Have you ever worked a night shift, caught a red-eye flight, or stayed out a little later than you planned?

If so, you know public transportation options can be limited and rideshare services expensive.

As of late August, Sound Transit’s Night Bus service has been creating a new option: overnight regional bus service for $3 or less.

All aboard the Night Bus

In response to longtime requests from our riders, two new ST Express Night Bus routes now offer regional connections between Redmond and Seattle via Bellevue and from Lakewood to Seattle via SeaTac.

The new routes launched as part of Sound Transit’s Fall 2026 Service Change, one of the largest changes to ST Express bus service in agency history.

Routes 547 (Redmond – Seattle via Bellevue) and 597 (Lakewood – Seattle via SeaTac) now provide regional connectivity overnight when Link light rail service isn’t available.

Route 597 is the permanent version of the pilot Route 570 we launched in spring 2026. The 597 serves the same stations, plus further south to Federal Way, Tacoma, and Lakewood.

Both Night Bus routes start shortly after the last Link trains leave and operate every 30 minutes throughout the night until Link service resumes.

In addition to these Eastside and Pierce County connections, Sound Transit is working with partners to extend Night Bus service to Everett in the future.
