Posted: Mar 9 - 6:48 p.m. (updated: May 12 - 5:03 p.m.)

Beginning Thursday, March 10, four weeks of rail grinding maintenance work will begin on Link 1 Line tracks.  The rail grinding activity will take place Thursday to Monday, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., beginning at the University of Washington Station and continuing south. Passengers, businesses, and residents may experience noisy conditions during this process. Observers should expect to see localized sparks near the rail-grinding equipment. This is a normal part of the rail-grinding process, which is necessary to maintain rails in a safe state free of defects and degradation

After 11 p.m., passengers may experience brief delays as trains single-track around the affected bore and track segment, in addition to brief periods of single-side station boardings. Updates will be provided as necessary.

Masks are recommended by public health authorities while on-board transit.
